Downtown Community Center’s senior technology program empowers older adults through hands-on digital training, cultivating connection, independence, and lifelong learning in an increasingly virtual society.
The Downtown Community Center debuted a comprehensive technology training program for seniors, closing the digital divide and enabling participants to connect, create, and communicate more easily. Free weekly classes cover topics from tablet basics to online safety, helping older adults navigate the digital world with confidence.
Graduates report enhanced ability to access telehealth services, shop online, and participate in virtual events. Some have begun mentoring peers, extending the program’s influence throughout the community.
“Learning these tools has empowered me to interact with my family and discover new interests,” shared participant Margaret Hall.
The initiative is supported by donations from local businesses and partnerships with technology firms.
With growing enrollment, the center plans to add advanced classes and intergenerational tech exchanges.
